l' histoire du chartreux
Le chartreux vit en France depuis au moins le XVIe siècle. Ces origines ancestrales lui viennent certainement des régions montagneuses du moyen orient.C'est le poete français Joachim Du Bellay qui le premier a laissé une trace écrite de nos Chartreux en écrivant en 1558 ses << Vers francais sur la mort d'un petit chat >>.Malheureusement durant les premiers siècles de sa présence en france, le Chartreux fut surtout célébre pour sa fourrure que les pelletiers appréciaient pour son poil laineux. Au XIXe siècle sa fourrure était rasée à mi-poil, teintée puis vendu comme de la fourrure de loutre.Quand au chat... il était mangé roti...!!!A la fin du XIXe siècle, le chat de compagnie se démocratise dans toutes les couches sociales et les Francais cessérent de consommer ces chats et de s'en faire des manteaux.C'est vers la fin des années vingt que le Chartreux fait son apparition dans le monde des chats de races. en 1928 mesdemoiselles Christine et Suzanne Léger présentèrent les premiers Chartreux en expositions.Le premier standard de la race est établie en 1939.
